Whilst the final motors for Batch 1 are built into rims we are starting to pack cartons and cross-check the contents against the orders in Backerkit.
As you know, the main reason for our delay is the huge number of variations in what everyone has requested which has led to increased lead times and delays in production. We have limited the number of variations for future batches to help speed up the process, but Batch 1 is still a very complex set of orders to pack and ship.
After all of the work we have put in to this Batch of products we are determined to ensure there are no mistakes in every order, which is why every carton will be cross checked multiple times against the packing slip.
We know it is a long time to wait and you have been so patience, we do not want any mistakes at this final hurdle resulting in disappointment with the arrival of your Swytch Kits.
It has come to our attention that some packing slips have been updated by customers via Backerkit or for a number of other reasons, and so are reaching out to you all to double check your order details one last time before shipment can proceed.

We are always happy to answer your questions and chat to those who have made this all possible. However, please bear in mind we are a small team working hard to complete a challenging job, every email to us is an extra overhead and hundreds of emails together is ultimately going to slow us down with completing our shipping tasks.
So please please only email us if you need to, e.g. to let us know there is a problem with your order in Backerkit so we can correct it. If you have general questions e.g. “What is the delivery date of my order?” please refer to the FAQs at the bottom of this update.

We know the delays are frustrating for all of us, but please be assured that they are very small delays in the grand scheme of things. Although it may not seem this way for those of you who are keen to get on the road, actually the project and our order is progressing very well and we have avoided many serious issues and potential delays that are often encountered by crowd funding campaigns trying to fulfil large complex orders. We haven’t taken our eye off the ball since the campaign ended having worked tirelessly to ensure we don’t fall folly to classic mistakes or production hickups which could have resulted in slower production delivery or worse.
If you were to compare our campaign so far to other Crowd Funders, the statistics are that we would be in the top 10% of fastest delivered products for campaigns that raised over $500k.
The delays are also for very good reasons, such as our refusing to compromise on quality and our decision earlier this year to make improvements to benefit our customers who we know placed a lot of faith in us.
We are also very keen to have our own stock and use of the Swytch Kits here in London. As soon as UK deliveries arrive we will be selling at a full RRP and will no longer be able to offer such large discounts in the future.
When you receive your Swytch Kits we are sure you are going to be very pleased with the purchase and hope the wait will be worth it.
How do I log into my Backerkit account?
We will be sending all Batch 1 backers an email with a reminder to your Backerkit login URL after this update so you can login and check your order there.
FAQ 1: When will I be receiving my order
A detailed updated delivery schedule taking into account the additional delays in final packing and shipping of the goods will be going out in the next update.
But the short answer is: We are starting to pack the goods and cross check every carton. We now estimate this will take 1-2 weeks for us to be 100% happy that every box is correctly packaged so no one ends up with the wrong order.
Once all cartons are signed off and ready to go we will affix tracking numbers and send to port. Loading at port may take up to 3 or 4 days given the number of different shipping containers and complexity of the order.
Once kits are on the sea, shipping times are about 2 weeks to USA and 6-7 weeks to Europe after which a door-to-door courier will deliver to your door.
FAQ 2: Can I add extra items still?
The window of opportunity for adding extra items to Batch 1 is now fully closed
Very soon the option to pre-order at such big discounts will end as the products rise to RRP. There is still an opportunity to place a pre-order for a later batch via our website.
FAQ 3: What about Batch 2?
Production setup is now in progress for Batch 2, we will be able to provide a fuller update very soon.
FAQ 4: Are all order items on track?
At least 90% of the orders in Batch 1 are still on track despite the huge number of variations requested by our backers. But there are unfortunately some orders that have experienced additional delays, we will email you if this applies to your specific order.
We will be posting more video updates in the coming days and weeks to show more processes and stages met and completed. We will also be sending you another full update with more packing and shipment information very soon.
